Spa Questions

When and/or how should
I use the sauna?

It is best to use the sauna before the massage appointments because
the heat allows the muscles to become more pliable to work with.
Generally you should start at a lower temperature setting and
gradually increase the temperature. If you start at a high temperature
the heat may cause you to faint or become dizzy.

Is there is difference between choosing a male or female massage therapist?

There is no difference. If you would like to specify on a specific modality, please inform us because each therapists specializes in various modalities. Please do inform us if you have a preference or no preference. Your comfort is important to us.

Should I bring a bathing suit for hydrotherapy treatments?

For our male clientele we recommend bringing swim trunks or Speedos
for your hydrotherapy treatments. We provide disposable undergarments
for our female clientele.

Does the Spa provide any amenities or should I bring my own
items?

Oasis provides our clients with robes, sandals, towels, as well
as lockers to place their personal belongings. In our men & ladies
lounge we provide hair dryers, combs, deodorant, mouthwash, soap,
lotion, shampoo & conditioner.

Is it ok for ladies to receive treatments during their period?

Yes it is fine to receive massage, facials, acupuncture, manicures & pedicures. If you are booked for a spa body treatment we do not recommend receiving the treatment for sanitary reasons. The aromatherapy oils may also cause some ladies to have a much heavier flow.

Does the extraction during a facial involve lancet needles?

No. Oasis does not believe in the use of lancet needles. All
extractions are done by the estheticians fingers protected with
gloves.

Is it best to eat right before or after my services?

It is best to eat 30-45 minutes before your services or have
a light meal just before. There should be no problem having a
meal after your services are completed.

Is it ok to put make-up on after my facial?

It is fine to apply make-up after a facial. However, we suggest to any client,
to have their products screened by their aesthetician for ingredients that are
know to clog the skins pores. A treatment foundation that contains sunscreen
and vitamins is also suggested. Dermalogica's Treatment Foundation is this type
and is available at Oasis.

How long should I wait to receive my next facial?

For most clients, maintenance facial once per month is recommended to clean and
hydrate the skin. However, if a client's skin has special concerns that need
to be addressed, such as pigmentation disorders or infected acne, a treatment
twice a month or even weekly might be recommended by their skin care therapist.
Consult with your aesthetician on the frequency of facial treatments.

What kinds of ingredients are included in your products?

All of our products carry various ingredients. Depending on what you are allergic to, it is best to inform our staff prior to receiving your treatment.

What types of blends do you use for massage?

We use massage oil (apricot and grape seed), aromatherapy massage oils, massage
lotion and massage gel. Please specify with your therapist which blend you would
prefer to use.

What types of wax does Oasis use?

We use four different types of wax for our clients:

a. Azulene
Wax – derived from the chamomile plant, this
blue wax helps sooth & calm sensitive skin.

b. Resin Wax – derives from trees and is good for thin
hair & non-sensitive type skin.

c. Cream Wax – is also known as strip wax that is used
for sensitive skin types with coarse hair.

d. Hard/Cold Wax – is used for Brazilian waxes and sensitive
areas on the face & underarms.

What is the difference between all of your bikini waxes?

The main difference in the bikini waxes at Oasis is the amount
of hair that is removed during the waxing.

Swimsuit Line Bikini – only
about 2 inches is removed on the bikini area.

High Bikini Line – about 4 inches of hair is removed
on both sides of the bikini area.

Brazilian Bikini – all of the hair is removed down
under and a narrow strip is left at the top.

Sphinx Bikini – a narrow strip of hair is left both
at the top and bottom areas of the bikini.

Australian Bikini – all of the hair in the bikini area is completely removed.

Is it best to shave before any of your treatments?

We recommend that you do not shave before any waxing or scrub
appointments. If you shave before your wax treatment, you must
have at least 1-2 inches of hair in order to wax. Be aware that
shaving may cause in hair growth and irritation. Shaving will
cause irritation during the scrub treatment.

It is best for men to shave their facial area in the morning
and to book their facial in the afternoon or evening. This way,
their skin will not be sensitive
during the facial, and the skin will still be smooth enough for the esthetician
to perform the treatment comfortably for the gentleman.

I’m pregnant, what types of treatments can I receive?

A pregnant client needs to focus on unique treatments that will make her body
feel especially good during this special time of her life. For a pregnant client,
Oasis has a specific massage, called a Prenatal Massage, where the client lays
on a specially designed table where she can actually lay on her stomach comfortably.
Regarding facials, a pregnant client can book any facial treatment EXCEPT the
Hot Stone, Microdermabrasion or the Aromatherapy Facials. In hydrotherapy, a
pregnant client cannot have wraps due to the fact that raising the core body
temperature during pregnancy is dangerous for the fetus. However, anyone of our
scrubs will make an expecting client feel fabulous. (Note: All treatments for
pregnant woman can only be performed once she has entered her second trimester.)

Is it ok for anyone underage to receive treatments?

Oasis will cater to clients as young as 16 years old with a signed consent from
their guardian. Their guardian must also be present at the spa during time of
their service.

Should I tell my therapists if I’m using any prescription medicine?

Yes. Absolutely. This information is very important to all treatments at Oasis
Day Spas. It will be held in the strictest of confidence. Please inform your
therapist of any and all medications that you are currently taking prior to treatment.

I have never received a massage, which one should I get?

It is usually best to reserve the Swedish massage. It is your basic massage that
improves muscle tone, circulation and joint flexibility.

I have never received a facial, which one should I get?

The best facial to receive at Oasis if you have never had one before is our Signature
Customized Facial Treatment. This is a one-hour treatment where the therapist
will cater the treatment to the client's specific skincare needs. It also includes
a thorough skin analysis in writing that he/she can take home. The skin care
therapist will also recommend the best follow-up treatment for the client's skin
condition that would help to improve their skin.

Do you offer acrylic nail service at your salon?

We offer natural nail services at the Oasis Salon only. At Oasis Day Spas, we
believe in natural products and treatments that enhance the client's mind, body
and spirit. We offer a peaceful environment where clients can de-stress and revitalize
themselves away from the hectic city outside.

Do you provide ethnic hair services at your salon?

Yes. At the Oasis Salon we offer ethnic hair care with special products designed
for ethnic hair only. We specialize in treatments for both natural and chemically
treated hair. We offer Relaxing, Retouch, Wave Nouveau and Press and Curl services.

What types of skin care lines does Oasis carry?

We carry many skin care lines, including Dermalogica and GM Collin. Please see feel free to browse through our store through this website.

What do I do if I am not happy with my product?

All products returned unopened with a receipt can be exchanged for store credit. If you would become dissatisfied with any product purchased at one of the Oasis Day Spa locations, please do not hesitate to contact us. If the product was purchased at one of our spas, clients have 5 days from the purchase date to bring the product back into one of our locations. If the product was purchased via mail, the client has 10 days to ship it back to one of our spas. Please Note: No refunds will be given on products purchased, exchanges only.


Our Policies

Can I apply my gift certificate to another service?

Yes you can, except for acupuncture, but we will
redeem the gift certificate in a dollar amount (the value of the service). If
the service value is more than the gift certificate value, you will have an
Oasis Credit.This credit can only be applied to another service or product
at Oasis. You cannot use this credit to get cash back or tip the
therapists.

Can I give my gift certificate to a friend and/or family member?

Yes you can, but they must still reserve appointments with a
credit card number as well as the gift certificate number. When
they arrive the day of their service they must give the gift
certificate to the receptionist.

I have some Oasis credit left on my gift certificate; can I use that towards my tip to my therapist(s)?

No. The credit left on your gift certificate is not of cash value.
That credit can only be applied to another service or product
at Oasis Day Spa.

Do you offer lunch or catering?

Oasis offers light refreshments such as fruits, dried fruits & nuts,
water and a variety of tea within our spas. We can recommend
a variety of restaurants or caterers around the area that can
deliver that day of your appointments.

Do you provide space for events or private parties?
Yes we have space for small parties at our 1 Park Avenue location & we
can accommodate larger groups at our Affinia Dumont Hotel location.
Please inform our events staff the date for availability.

I’m holding an outside event, how do I go about booking outcall events?

Please give us 1 week in advance to reserve any outside events.
You must specify what types of treatments you would like to offer.
Please call us at (212) 254-7722 and speak to our reservations
department.

Can I use my FUS (Frequent User Series) towards another treatment not included in my package?

Frequent User Series are discounted bulk treatments. Transferring that to another
treatment will change the discount pricing. Unfortunately you cannot transfer
treatments.

What is your policy on Lost Gift Certificates?

Gift cards are treated as cash and are not replaceable if lost or stolen. The
bearer of the gift card is completely responsible for its loss or theft. Oasis
cannot replace any lost gift cards.

How can I get updates of your special promotions?

You can go onto our website and subscribe on our home page for exclusive monthly specials. If you are interested in our website monthly specials, you can check on our special promotions page. Our promotions page is updated monthly and is not applicable towards gift certificate or cannot be combined with any discounts.

Do you provide parking? Are there parking lots by your locations?

Oasis does not provide parking, but there are parking lots within walking distance
around all three of our locations.

What is your cancellation policy?
If you cancel your appointments with less than 24 hours’ notice, you will be charged 100% of the total cost of the treatment(s) reserved under your credit card. Credit card details are required to secure bookings. You must speak to a live operator in order to cancel and you will receive a cancellation number for your reference. If you cannot provide us with a cancellation number, your credit card will be subject to full charge of your appointment(s). Treatment times & prices are subject to change without notification.
