Facial Treatment Contraindications

Contraindications that PREVENT a facial treatment

The following conditions may prevent or restrict you from receiving skincare services at Oasis Day Spa. Please note that while this list covers many contraindications, there may be others not listed below that would also prevent you from receiving services, and we reserve the right to determine what constitutes a contraindication. Speak with your skincare professional and your doctor if you have any questions or concerns.

  • Contagious disease; viruses such as colds, flu, RSV, Covid 19
  • Fever
  • Active cold sores or warts
  • Bacterial infections such as impetigo, boils, conjunctivitis, styes
  • Fungal infections such as ringworm or yeast infection
  • You have had a recent resurfacing cosmetic procedure such as CO2 or other laser resurfacing treatment, chemical peel, or microneedling within the past 30 days
  • Had Botox/Dysport, dermal fillers, or other facial injectables within the past 7-10 days
  • Used Accutane (Isotretinoin) in the past 12 months
  • Recently waxed skin, laser hair removal, or electrolysis within the past 14 days
  • Highly sensitized or irritated skin
  • Undiagnosed lumps or swelling
  • Fresh bruising, open cuts or incisions, sores
  • Broken jaw or other facial bone
  • Facial cancer
  • Head lice
  • Unstable blood pressure
  • Recent head or neck injury
  • Recent hemorrhage or scarring

Contraindications that could RESTRICT a facial treatment

The following conditions are contraindications that will not necessarily stop the treatment from taking place but they may mean that the treatment is restricted or may have to be adapted. Speak with your skincare professional and your doctor if you have any questions or concerns.

  • Cuts/abrasions/broken skin
  • Bruises or swelling
  • Recent scar tissue (less than six months old)
  • Use of Retin-A or other prescribed retinol product within the past 7 days
  • You have had recent microdermabrasion or dermaplaning within the past 30 days
  • Pregnant, nursing, or trying to get pregnant
  • Eczema
  • Dermatitis
  • Psoriasis
  • Severe acne or rosacea
  • Broken capillaries/veins
  • Recent sun exposure within the past 14 days
  • Recent sunburn or windburn
  • Claustrophobia
  • Epilepsy, thrombosis/phlebitis, or a history of seizures
  • Pacemaker or an electronic implanted device
  • Current medication that may affect treatment outcome (needs to be disclosed)
  • High blood pressure or any irregularity with a blood supply
  • Autoimmune diseases or slow healing
